ABOUT THE JOB
We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join our busy and collaborative Finance Team at Niab. This role is key in supporting financial operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and assisting with reconciliations, payroll, and reporting. It offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while developing professionally in a supportive team.
Your key duties include:
1. Maintaining accurate financial records, including supplier ledger and bank transactions.
2. Processing and reconciling month-end journals, prepayments, and accruals.
3. Conducting weekly and monthly sales ledger and purchase ledger reconciliations.
4. Supporting payroll reporting and staff expenses.
5. Acting as a point of contact for queries from outsourced finance resources.
6. Assisting in training staff on finance systems and processes.
7. Managing the petty cash system and reconciliations.
8. Working closely with Finance Business Partners to support financial reporting.
The role is based at Niab Park Farm, Histon, Cambridge, CB24 9NZ, 4 miles from Cambridge city centre. Free on-site parking and linked by cycle ways and regular buses to Cambridge city centre and railway station. Close to Junction 32 of A14, with easy access to M11, A10 and A11.

ABOUT YOU
Essential requirements:
1. AAT Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification.
2. Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
3. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
5. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable requirements:
1. Experience working in a finance or accounts office.
2. Knowledge of ERP/accounting software.
3. A proactive and enquiring mindset, with the willingness to develop processes and improve efficiency.
4. An interest in further professional qualifications (ACCA/CIMA).
5. Experience working in a technically complex or project-based environment.
6. A driving licence or access to independent means of travel, enabling visits to Niab sites where required.
