We are looking for a Chief Power Electronics Engineer to develop fascinating projects in the field of electrified propulsion across a range of industries such as automotive, aerospace and defence.
You will be working with a business which is growing every year due to the great work which is done internally. You'll be focusing on areas such as propulsion and actuation within the area of electrified technology. The projects range from very small to very large and apply to various fields such as land, air and water-based vehicles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage cross-functional projects, ensuring budget goals, strong customer relationships, and risk mitigation
- Provide technical leadership in power electronics design and propose innovative R&D projects
- Develop and prototype cutting-edge power electronic systems using advanced tools and simulation techniques
- Approve and improve electronics designs to meet quality standards and enhance quality processes
- Create work scopes, estimates, and maintain strategic relationships to drive revenue and promote the company
- Mentor and support the professional development of colleagues
- Continuously improve by acquiring new skills and knowledge
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
- Uphold the company's values, acting as a role model and ambassador
- Communicate actively, both internally and externally
- Embrace learning, adaptability, and new challenges in a growing business
REQUIREMENTS
- Power Electronics Expertise: Deep knowledge and experience in power electronics and magnetics, especially in power conversion (e.g., inverters, OBC, DC/DC, chargers)
- Design and Testing: Proven experience from concept design to validation testing and production. Familiar with high voltage, high power switching devices (SiC, IGBT, GaN), and related testing methods
- Standards and Compliance: Understanding of EMC submissions, safety standards, and OEM requirements
- Technical Skills: Proficient in digital control schemes, motor operation, and thermal management
- Project Leadership: Strong track record in planning, leading, and delivering large, multi-disciplinary projects
- Problem Solving: Methodical approach to decision making and problem solving (e.g., DDR, 8D)
DESIRABLE SKILLS (NOT ESSENTIAL)
- Sector Experience: Experience in automotive, aerospace, off-highway, commercial vehicle, defence, clean energy, and/or marine sectors
- High Voltage Lab: Experience with high power, high voltage test equipment in a dedicated lab setting
- Customer Interaction: Excellent customer-facing skills and cultural awareness. Ability to mentor and train colleagues and customer engineers
