About the Role As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing essential support to teachers in the classroom, enabling students to access the curriculum effectively and making learning more inclusive. You will be working closely with teachers to support students in their academic development, as well as assisting with the general running of the classroom. Responsibilities of the Classroom Assistant: Assist teachers in delivering lessons, helping students to engage with tasks and instructions. Support students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, ensuring their learning needs are met and helping them to stay focused. Manage classroom behaviour, assisting with positive discipline and ensuring a safe and respectful environment. Help students with special educational needs (SEN) by adapting materials and methods of delivery as necessary. Prepare resources for lessons and activities, ensuring all materials are available and ready for use. Monitor and track students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers on their performance and development. Support students during break times and ensure they are well-supported throughout the school day. Assist in preparing displays and maintaining a stimulating classroom environment. The successful candidate will: Experience working as a Classroom Assistant or in a similar educational support role is desirable. A relevant qualification in education, such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, would be advantageous. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds. A caring and patient approach, with a willingness to help students overcome barriers to learning. Proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
