What you’ll be doing
The Quality & Business Assurance Director is a member of the executive team and is accountable for engineering quality and assurance across the company, contributing to the overall company success, strategy and policy making. The role reports to the Managing Director.
This role is also a champion of continuous improvement and organisational learning, driving efficiency, effectiveness and innovation into company ways of working, and seeks to remove unnecessary barriers and frustrations from company activities wherever possible.
Beyond the day to day, you’ll take a forward-facing approach, working to develop the quality strategy, cultivating a quality-first environment, and setting an agenda for business assurance across all aspects of SEA’s business. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Define and direct the implementation of the Quality strategy, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
2. Develop and lead a culture of quality and continuous improvement, setting forth a common, unified and principled approach across SEA.
3. Maintain an effective quality assurance internal audit capability, ensuring that quality is monitored and measured effectively and to adequate standards across the business.
4. Champion and represent all quality and business assurance matters across SEA, directing activities on certification, policy, and SEA’s Business Management System.
5. Maintain working relationships with SEA directors, external stakeholders and industry bodies in support of company objectives.
The skills you need
You’ll be an experienced leader in quality & business assurance, with a proven track record of delivering at Director level. You’ll bring extensive experience of delivering strategic quality activities in large engineering organisations across varied disciplines, with a focus on people, skills, processes, and culture. Here’s what we’re looking for:
1. You’re a passionate and charismatic leader for quality and business change and understand the importance of engendering a quality culture across the business. You’ll bring a personal flair to the role, with a strong ability to stimulate change.
2. You’re experienced in the application of structured improvement tools (e.g. Lean Sigma, DMAIC, Process Modelling).
3. You’ll have significant experience of delivering in a business assurance leadership role in a manufacturing or engineering context.
4. Experience of maturity models for capability assessment or structured root cause analysis is beneficial.
5. Willingness to be hands-on where required.
6. Excellent leadership, inter-personal, organizational and decision-making skills.
