Job Title: Residential Childcare Practitioner

We pride ourselves in providing homes for children and young people aged 8 – 17 on admission. Our residential services cater to children and young people 24 hours a day, 52 weeks of the year.
We offer structured pay scales and a clear career path, enabling you to grow from your initial role as a Residential Childcare Practitioner to positions such as Deputy Manager or Residential Manager. Key Responsibilities:
1. Build meaningful relationships with children and young people, providing practical and emotional support to create a secure, stable, and supportive environment that helps them develop life skills and resilience for independent living.
2. Deliver high-quality care and support that meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural needs of children and young people in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
3. Assist children and young people in their daily routines and care needs, serving as a positive role model, offering guidance and support.
4. Empower children and young people to make choices and decisions, ensuring their needs and wishes are considered in decisions relating to them.
5. Facilitate the development of social skills, access to education and leisure activities, and encourage their participation.
6. Ensure the protection of children and young people from harm by observing changes in behaviour and adhering to the Home's Safeguarding & Child Protection policy.
7. Take responsibility for key-working named children, maintaining records, attending meetings with external professionals, and performing other assigned duties.
8. Attend to practical matters related to childcare, such as cooking, cleaning, and general home maintenance.
9. Provide one-on-one assistance and support to help young people address past and present difficulties.
10. Offer emotional support during challenging times.
11. Assist young people in gaining self-control by addressing unacceptable behavior and reinforcing pro-social conduct.
12. Adhere to relevant policies and procedures to ensure the smooth running of the Home.
Job Requirements:
* Flexibility to work 10-12 hour shifts during the daytime, including sleep-ins and weekends.
* Willingness to undergo further training as identified by the manager.
* Enhanced DBS clearance registered with the update service.
* Minimum age requirement of 22 years.
Experience & Qualifications (Desirable):
* Minimum Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare/NVQ.
* 2 years of experience working in a residential setting with children/young people.
* Working knowledge of residential childcare practices.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
* Knowledge of key working with children.
* Proficiency in Ofsted regulations and the Children's Act 2015.
