Principal Systems Engineer Hybrid working available with an early finish on Fridays Copello are working with a defence technology company with an exciting opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer to join the team. The role will provide Design Authority expertise across a range of engineering products, providing technical direction across the product lifecycle, from requirements capture, Analysis, Design through testing, qualification and certification activities. Duties You will provide customer support and technical / product strategy discussions. Responsible for leading the technical input for Bids and Proposals and Production of Engineering Estimates will assist in the successful capture of new business. You will develop and shape the technical requirements design, generation of technical documentation and then manage these requirements through the design lifecycle in order to meet the requirements set during product development. You will be solving complex technical problems on new and existing products as well as providing Engineering representation to production Product Team regards to investigating production queries, obsolescence management and phasing of change management. Responsible for all technical design reviews and qualification, verification, validation, and certification of our designs ensures that we meet the highest standard the customer expects of Raytheon Products. Raytheon invests heavily in Research & Development for existing and new products within the APNT division. You will supporting and mentoring our junior engineers through their activities to ensure the teams growth and future success. Essential Product development experience at team lead level Good knowledge of high speed digital design, electro-mechanical and / or thermal product design within harsh environments. Understanding of RF concepts and techniques for analogue signals Design of circuits in analogue and digital, with exposure to FPGA or DSP control. Experience of interfacing designs into established systems Proven experience in systems engineering principles with regards product development Experience in Product Qualification, for EMC, Environmental requirements. Demonstrable problem solving and analytical skills, willing to take ownership as well as positively contributing within cross-disciplined teams. Ability to develop hardware concepts efficiently from limited or vague customer requirements and communicate potential solutions. Excellent stakeholder management and customer interfacing skills. Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics) or similar industry certification. Desirable Design Authority experience for Hardware Product development Experience with interfacing to RF circuitry and high speed D/A /A/D conversion Experience in schematic, and PCB layout tools, and Electronics simulation environments.( e.g. Mentor, Matlab, LT Spice, Hyperlynx and Systemvision or equivalents) Knowledge of Firmware development, design and test using suitable toolsets (i.e. Xilinx Vivado, ModelSim) Product Quality Testing and Certification. Experience of working with Industry standard toolsets for requirement capture, design and task management (e.g. DOORs, Microsoft Project). Knowledge of GNSS systems and receiver characteristics Experience with SysMl or UML in a Systems Engineering environment Experience with configuration management systems Understands the principles of 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
