Description We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our maintenance team, covering sites across East Cornwall. You will be responsible for the maintenance of Cornwall Council grounds including checking and repairing play equipment, repairs to and installation of fencing, seating and steps, trimming hedges and keeping public open spaces in a safe condition. The successful candidate will have a wealth of experience in grounds maintenance and a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service. The role of Grounds Maintenance Operative will include: To comply with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and company policies, including carrying out point of work risk assessments Ensure electronic paperwork is correct and submitted on time. Regular checks and repairs to play equipment. Repairs to all elements of the infrastructure of the public open spaces owned by Cornwall Council e.g. paths, steps benches and fencing Using equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessments, manufacturer’s guidance and company policy. Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks. Assist in responding positively to requests for service to meet customer expectations. Skills and experiences: Sound knowledge of play parks and safety equipment Good working knowledge of Health and Safety, Risk Assessments and safety procedures Recent experience of undertaking a similar role and experience of operating grounds maintenance machinery This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence Class B1, Class C1 is desirable. Self-motivation with the ability to use own initiative. RoSPA operational Playground Inspection qualification desirable but full training will be given if required.
