Maintenance Engineer - Fabric
Location: Findlay House, Edinburgh
Contract: Permanent - Full Time
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:30

Your new role
What you will do:
1. Undertake planned, reactive and cyclical maintenance work either independently or under the supervision of the Facilities Manager/Team Leader or as assistant to a maintenance tradesman ensuring all works have been recorded on completion in compliance with the contract conditions.
2. Service and repair of doors, windows, general building fabric and plumbing systems.
3. Service and repair of internal fixtures and fittings.
4. Undertake maintenance duties in such a manner as to support the objectives of the Client.
5. Ensure the safe operation & storage of all plant, materials, equipment and tools.
6. Comply with Regulations, COSHH, Control of Infection, Waste Disposal, etc., in accordance with legislative requirements and RFM policies and procedures.
7. Carry out various operational tests and inspections of the facility, specifically those relating to security and access, maintenance and repair, and health and safety. This will include the security of the premise and its contents, lighting and heating of premises.
8. Provide support and assistance to other RFM personnel on site in the delivery of contracted services.
9. Provide out of hours maintenance support to Findlay House and Midlothian Community Hospital on a call-out rota basis shared with the Midlothian Community Hospital Engineers.
What you'll need:
1. Good Joinery / Fabric skills, a related trade qualification or experience in similar role, carpentry – doors, frames, hinges, locks and furniture repairs, shelving install.
2. Plumbing skills general, repair of sanitary ware (unblocking sinks and toilets, repairing and replacement of taps, toilet flushers, showers, etc).
3. Hard working, reliable, punctual, have good communication skills.
4. Awareness of health and safety and the need for safe methods of working.
5. Basic electrical duties – lamp changes and minor repairs.
6. A full UK driving license is a requirement for this role.
7. The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check.
