Leap Environmental an RSK Group company are recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer to join the team based in Goudhurst, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with geotechnical projects in London and the South East (but could be in other areas of the UK) as directed by the Team Leader or other project staff. More specifically you will be: Participating in a variety of geotechnical and geo-environmental projects for both external clients and for other teams within RSK Assisting with desk studies and design/scoping of investigations Site supervision of ground investigations, earthworks and construction activities Soil and rock logging to current UK standards and laboratory scheduling Collating data and writing factual and interpretative ground investigation reports Assisting with the preparation of earthworks specifications and geotechnical design reports Assisting with geotechnical analysis and design of slopes, earthworks, foundations, basements, retaining structures and ground movement assessments Travel to other offices and sites within the UK and the potential opportunities to work on assignments overseas for periods of up to 2 months The role will provide an excellent opportunity to work with a wide range of public and private sector clients on some key and major projects offering the opportunity for you to gain broad consultancy experience at an early stage of your career. Experience and Qualifications: BEng/Meng/BSc or equivalent in Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, Geology or Environmental Science or related subject essential MSc in Engineering geology/geotechnics or similar desirable but not essential Working towards chartership with either the Geological Society or ICE or another relevant professional body Ideally at least 1 year relevant industry experience would be advantageous Good understanding of geology, ground investigation works and ground engineering Awareness of geo-environmental investigation and assessment desirable Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing Able to work independently and as part of a team Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint. CAD and GIS software competency desirable Knowledge of geotechnical software packages desirable but not essential as training given Full UK drivers licence.
