Based in Upton Hospital and Tilehurst Clinic.Are you looking fora challenge or change ofcareerifsowe have an exciting opportunity within Berkshire Healthcare Foundation TrustASLT Team for a new Assistant Practitioner role within theAdult Speech and Language Therapy Team.This post will be working withinthe ASLT serviceacross Berkshirealongside the SLT Team andother MDT.This role would suit someone keen to work within SLT andwith an interestin working withAdultswithacquireddisordersand clientsthat have dysphagia /swallowingproblems. The role isto support the SLT in providing therapy andincludesdeveloping resourcesfor communication and dysphagiaclients -this will include some AAC materials and equipment.
The role isfulltime37.5hoursand you will need to be a car driver so you can visitcommunity sites including home visits to care homes and client homes.
There is flexibility in the days and hours worked over the week and all training will be provided to ensure you feel supported in the role.
As an assistant practitioner you will be developing a new role for trainingandtherapy somust have a keen desire to -
• to work independently and be responsive to the needs of the service
• Be highly organised and able to manage your own workload.
• Have a keen interest inhealthcareand be driven to provide an excellent service for clients, families, and carers.
• To support the SLT team in deliveringtherapy packages fordysphagiaand communication problems
• To provide support and advice on dysphagia management alongside the SLT team
• Using RIO patient held records
• To ensure good communications aremaintainedacross theservice;
• Tocollect audit informationwhen neededand use this to evaluate education and resources
• To create the necessary resources to supportASLT
