Peace Recruitment are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Clerk of Works to oversee and inspect planned maintenance projects across a diverse public sector property portfolio in the Greater Glasgow area. This is a key role ensuring that all works are delivered to the highest quality, in line with technical specifications, health and safety standards, and regulatory requirements. £25-£27 per hour (depending on experience and based on Umbrella/CIS). 35 hours per week. This role is for a minimum of 6 months but likely a year +.
You will act as the organisation's eyes and ears on site, providing independent and impartial assessments of contractor workmanship and materials. The role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the long-term condition and performance of public buildings that serve local communities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out regular site inspections on planned maintenance works, including new kitchens and bathrooms, decorating and electrics.
2. Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring compliance with contract documents.
3. Identify defects, advise on necessary remedial action, and follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
4. Liaise with contractors, consultants, and in-house teams to resolve issues and ensure best practice.
About You
1. Proven experience in a Clerk of Works, site inspection, or construction supervision role, ideally within a public sector or housing association.
2. Sound knowledge of building construction, building regulations, and planned maintenance practices.
3. Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and ensure quality outcomes.
