Why join us
Joining Sainsbury's as the Environmental Sustainability Manager means becoming part of a leading retail company that is committed to making a positive impact on the environment and communities we serve.
As we work towards meeting our Scope 3 commitment and implementing our sustainability strategy, you will have the opportunity to drive change and influence the business for the better. With a focus on climate issues and supply chain initiatives, you will play a crucial role in shaping our environmental agenda and ensuring transparent reporting to stakeholders. What you'll do
You will play a crucial role in implementing the company's environmental sustainability strategy, with a focus on our supply chains and meeting our Scope 3 commitment. Working in the CR & S team, you will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to develop and improve our group strategy for climate, including determining our position on key climate issues and embedding it within the company. You will stay updated on industry developments and maintain your expertise in environmental themes, such as nature and climate. Additionally, you will lead initiatives to embed the scope 3 climate strategy, engage with stakeholders, manage sustainability issues, and ensure effective internal and external communication. Budget management, developing business cases for sustainability programmes, and demonstrating alignment with Sainsbury's values are also important aspects of this role. Your passion for retail, excellent communication skills, and ability to prioritise and deliver results will contribute to our environmental sustainability efforts.
Who you are
We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and skilled professional who is able to demonstrate a strong background in environmental sustainability, particularly within the food and agricultural sector.
You have a deep understanding of managing environmental risks in supply chains and possess specialist technical expertise in areas such as supplier Scope 3 strategy, carbon pricing, emission reductions, and industry collaboration.
Your ability to manipulate complex sustainability datasets, analyse information, and make critical decisions allows you to develop and implement effective environmental sustainability strategies and initiatives.
With excellent communication, organisation, and influencing skills, you effectively engage and align stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally, to drive sustainable practises and achieve environmental targets.
