Quality Assurance Technologist (6 months) Newtownards Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited (The Group) is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. The Groups Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) operates a state-of-the-art Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility and is a leading and innovative provider of the highest quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef, and sheep farmers across the north and south of Ireland. Applications are invited for the above temporary position to work as part of our Quality Assurance Team in our Newtownards office. The Role Reporting to the Quality Team Leader, the temporary Quality Assurance Technologist will be responsible for providing technical service for assessing the quality of manufactured products and to support departmental and factory-wide procedures and targets aimed at improving overall manufacturing standards. The role will assist with customer complaints and non-conforming product investigations. Our Quality Assurance Technologist will work on a 3 week rotational basis that is both day shift and night shift. The Person The role requires a candidate to have a HND or HNC in either Chemistry, Biology or Food science, or to have relevant Industry experience. It is desirable that the candidate is educated to Degree Level or holds a HACCP Level 3 Food Hygiene. It is essential that the successful candidate has knowledge or experience of laboratory instrumentation, and it is desirable that the candidate has experience in food analysis in either a dairy or food-processing environment. The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a proven experience of problem solving, investigating and resolution. The candidate will be a tenacious, organised individual with the ability to prioritise workload and responsibilities, and to have excellent communication skills with a positive and enthusiastic approach. The role requires the successful person to have a high level of flexibility within a fast-paced environment and to be a systematic and logical person with a preference for procedural based systems. It is desirable but not essential for the person to have experience of Quality Management Systems and Auditing Quality Standards. It is essential that the candidate has a high attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, and desirable that they can demonstrate experience of root cause analysis and have knowledge of product functionality assessment.
