Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Occupational Therapy team lead in medicine at University Hospital Wales, based in Lakeside.
Leading a team of occupational therapists and technicians, you will deliver value-based occupationally focused intervention across Lakeside and IACU, supporting rehabilitation and discharge planning.
The occupational therapy service provides an occupationally focused intervention modelled on the Cardiff and Vale Occupational Therapy Strategy and Operational Plan.
The occupational therapists are key members of the MDT providing assessment and ongoing therapy to patients following D2RA and the ‘Home First’ principle.
You will join the established, supportive occupational therapy team within UHW. The service has an active training programme in place with service development, training, and CPD opportunities.
Main Duties of the Job
We are seeking someone who:
* Enjoys being part of a busy team
* Can lead service development in occupational therapy
* Offers occupational therapy in an inpatient setting
* Has a current knowledge of complex discharge and can manage complex caseloads
* Can implement D2RA, Home First, and the Cardiff and Vale Occupational Therapy Strategy and Operational Plan
* Is ready for a new challenge
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Will hold a qualification in Occupational Therapy at degree level or equivalent.
* Holds professional registration as awarded by HCPC
* Evidence of recent formal training/learning at higher level /level 7
* Evidence of postgraduate qualifications in a wide selection of clinical conditions
Experience
* Evidence of working in the NHS
* Evidence of significant postgraduate experience in medicine specialty
* Evidence of team leadership within uni and multidisciplinary teams
* Evidence of people management skills
Skills
* Evidence of autonomous practitioner with self-management skills
* Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning in medicine specialty
* Evidence of knowledge of current healthcare policies with application in medicine specialty
* Evidence of service development/audit/research
* Evidence of communication of complex information to a wide audience
Special Knowledge
* Evidence of knowledge and understanding of services that link across the primary and secondary care interface including 3rd sector
* Evidence of embedding of Health and Safety at Work Act including risk assessment
* Evidence of being a member of a specialist interest group relevant to medicine specialty
