Contracts Manager - Water Infrastructure Projects

Barker Ross is working with a leading Civil Engineering contractor, known for delivering high-quality work across the UK water sector. Due to ongoing success and project wins, they are looking to bring in a Contracts Manager to oversee a range of clean and wastewater infrastructure schemes - including pipelines and pumping stations.
This role is key to ensuring projects run smoothly, stay compliant, and deliver on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all projects comply with relevant legal, safety, and environmental standards.
Oversee quality control, project programmes, and contractor performance.
Lead contract administration, including document control, change management, and dispute resolution.
Manage both external and internal stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and in-house teams.
Lead and support site teams, from recruitment through to training and performance management.
Monitor budgets and costs, working closely with commercial and project managers.
Evaluate performance and implement improvements across contract management practices.
Provide technical and buildability advice where needed.
About You:
Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to take ownership of multiple projects.
Solid experience in the water sector, delivering civil infrastructure works.
Comfortable working under NEC3 contracts.
Skilled in MS Office, Project (or similar), and CAD (preferred).
Holds a full UK driving licence and relevant industry certifications.
Requirements:
Degree in Civil Engineering or similar, with 5+ years' site-based experience - or 15+ years' proven industry experience.
Experience managing HSEQ aspects of large civil engineering schemes.
Strong commercial awareness and communication skills.
