We are seeking an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Paediatric rotational scheme. This scheme offers the opportunity to gain a broad experience in Paediatrics through yearly rotations in the following areas of services:
* MSK
* Pre-school Special Needs & Special Schools
* Schools Services (mainstream and special schools)
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner providing a specialist physiotherapy service to a designated caseload of children with a range of physical and mobility difficulties and Special Educational Needs (SEN) within the specified rotation. A significant proportion of these children will have English as an additional language (EAL). He/she will be expected to work collaboratively with CYP, parents/carers and colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services in planning and delivery of services.
The post holder will contribute to departmental meetings, clinical audit/research and projects. They will provide advice and deliver training to other professionals and parents/carers on all aspects of paediatric physiotherapy. He/she will provide clinical education and training to physiotherapy students and will supervise the work of the PTA's and LSA's.
The main specific areas of responsibility for this post are:
* Providing specialist Physiotherapy services to children and young people with a variety of conditions within Harrow both in the community and acute settings
* Providing specialist advice, programmes and treatment plans to others regarding the management and care of CYP with physical difficulties
* To provide supervision of the work of band 5 physiotherapists, assistants and volunteers regularly on a day to day basis

Person Specification Education and Qualification Essential:
* HCPC registration
* Recognised Physiotherapy Degree Qualification and registered member of CSP
* Evidence of CPD including attendance of postgraduate short courses relevant to Paediatric Physiotherapy
Experience Essential:
* Experience within the NHS of postgraduate level of working in the following fields: orthopaedics, outpatients, respiratory, neurology and paediatrics
* Experience at a postgraduate level: assessment treatment and management of children
* Experience at postgraduate level: writing clinical notes and reports
* Experience at postgraduate level: managing own caseload
* Experience of working with and teaching other professionals/parents/carers
* Experience working as part of an MDT
Skills and Knowledge Essential:
* Well established knowledge of assessment, treatment and management of children
* Understanding of the role of the physiotherapist in the Education system
* Established knowledge of the range of appropriate therapeutic intervention and equipment relevant to CYP in the community setting
* Good written and spoken English
* Excellent interpersonal skills including observation, listening and empathy
* Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload
* Ability to communicate effectively with children and young people of all ages and abilities
