Due to significant growth within Purestream Industries, part of the OCU Group, we have a new opportunity for an experienced Principal Civil Engineer with water/utilities experience to work hybrid/remote.
The engineering services we offer to our clients requires us to be able to deliver in an agile environment. The following are examples of the type of responsibilities and duties we are looking for from our candidates, working as part of our dynamic multidisciplinary water/wastewater design team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead and contribute to the successful delivery of projects across UK project lifecycles: feasibility studies, front-end to detailed design (incl. Design and Build), and construction support.
2. If required, contribute and/or lead work winning initiatives through production of proposals, fees, and scope definition, in response to client tenders/requests, in accordance with Purestream bid management system.
3. Client and construction team engagement (incl. Design & Build) to lead and contribute to discussions on technical water civil engineering solutions, to technical and non-technical clients – both during project delivery and bidding stages.
4. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment across teams worldwide, including the UK, to ensure successful delivery of projects.
5. Lead and contribute to the efficient delivery of projects to meet programme and budget, complying with OCU business management governance.
6. Production and review of design deliverables including engineering design calculation, drawings, and report writing for projects in accordance with relevant design standards, codes, and Purestream design management system.
7. Lead and contribute to quality and safe design of technical solutions for projects in accordance with relevant design standards and codes.
8. Lead and contribute to the application of digital engineering initiatives and innovative advances in water sector solutions.
9. Act as a mentor to other team members, potentially with line management responsibility.
Skills and Experience:
1. Educated to degree level with a civil engineering bias; Chartered Member of a recognised engineering institution.
2. Hands-on experience of design/design-&-build/project and bid delivery in the water and/or wastewater engineering sector in the UK.
3. A strong technical water sector background, incl. knowledge of CESWI, relevant UK codes and asset standards, for water and/or wastewater infrastructure and/or non-infrastructure assets.
4. Highly motivated, organised, and with a strong desire to lead and contribute to technical excellence within project teams and the wider OCU team/practice.
5. Experience of working with contractors to deliver the successful implementation of engineering solutions in the Design & Build environment.
6. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently within a multidisciplinary team including with Clients, Contractors, and colleagues alike.
7. Good understanding of digital initiatives and its application in the water industry.
8. Flexible approach to work type and locations for project assignments, if required, with a hybrid working model.
