Base salary for this role is between £130,000 and £160,000, depending on experience + stock options + Benefits.
About the team
This role is for a Senior Engineering Manager in the Business Banking collective. You will be leading across teams in an org of up to 20 people. We’re expanding and your role as the Senior EM will be to grow and build new squads as needed. Your direct reports will include Tech Leads, Senior Engineers and 1-2 Engineering Managers.

Building on the Monzo experience, we want to enhance existing features and provide new features specific to businesses, like Tax pots and integrated Invoices.
Senior Engineering Management at Monzo
Senior Engineering Managers at Monzo are part of cross-functional, autonomous teams. Our teams are mission-driven, typically including Product Managers, engineers, data scientists, designers, and subject matter experts. Teams are organised into groups and collectives, aiming for a shallow line management structure.
Senior Engineering Managers are accountable for the technical and delivery outcomes for their area, supporting and developing best-in-class engineering talent while creating an inclusive team environment.
While this role does not require hands-on coding, we seek an experienced manager with a strong technical and delivery background.
We’re looking for someone who:
* Delivery and Execution : Enjoys taking accountability for delivery across your squad(s), collaborating with the Technical Lead and Product Manager.
* Engineering and Operational Excellence : Actively fosters a high bar for engineering excellence within your teams.
* People Leadership: Has experience directly managing at least 1-2 Engineering Managers for a minimum of 1 year.
* Technical Influence: Partners with senior engineers to drive technical initiatives.
* Stakeholder Relationships: Builds strong stakeholder relationships with other teams.
* Organisational Wide Impact: Collaborates with the wider engineering organisation.
The interview process:
Our interview process involves three main stages:
* Recruiter Call (30 mins) - Discuss your experience with our Engineering Leadership Recruiter.
* Initial Call (1 hour) - Meet with a Senior Engineering Manager or Engineering Director.
* Loop Stage (3 hours 30 mins) - Consists of 3 x 60 min interviews and one 30 minute reverse interview.
