Yard Operative
Scope of Role
As a Yard Operative you will be responsible for moving steel and aluminium around the workshop and yard areas. The role will involve manual handling, as well as using equipment to load and unload deliveries and ensuring the yard is kept well presented.
Rate of pay - £22.50 per hour (13 Weeks probationary period CIS / Umbrella) Shifts - Friday to Sunday, 07:00 17:30 You will be required to completed 3 weeks initial training with the day shift (39 hrs Monday Thursday 7am -5pm)
Main Duties and Responsibilities Carry out workshop / yard activities in accordance with issued work instructions
Complete paperwork as specified
Loading/unloading delivery vehicles
Prepare fabricated materials to be sent for galvanising and/or despatch
Ensure loads are checked before dispatch to ensure items are packed and secured and match paperwork
Check in bolts against delivery note
Inspect galvanised materials, take remedial action and report any significant concerns
Carry out check erection operations
Maintain high levels of housekeeping in the all areas
Carry out manual activities within physical and technical capabilities
Authorities, Interface, Reporting and Supervision Line report to the Shipping Manager
Liaise with yard / workshop operatives, as required
Health, Safety & Environment Work in a safe and responsible manner taking reasonable care of your own and other peoples health
and safety Follow and adhere to all training received
Ensure that HSEQ policies and practices are adhered to
Report an accidents, incidents and near misses to the QHSE Manager
Wear and look after issued PPE/RPE
Maintain records and traceability throughout the fabrication process
Not to deliberately interfere with or misuse anything provided to maintain safety and to comply with legislation
Participate in risk assessments and comply with controls specified in the risk assessment
Skills, Knowledge and Attributes Working knowledge on yard process, tools and equipment
Good organisational skills
Ability to work to deadlines
Able to work as part of a team
