Workshop & General Manager Department: Workshop Reports to: Operations Director Hours of Work: 39 per week Employment Type: Permanent Salary: £36,000 - £46,000 Location: Onsite / Requires Travel Summary of the Position The Workshop & General Manager will work alongside the existing Workshop Manager and act as a liaison between projects, procurement, and the wider team to ensure that all projects are built and delivered within required timescales. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Coordination: Manage and lead a team of technicians, engineers, and support staff to ensure smooth operations and project execution. Oversee daily workshop activities, ensuring coordination with project teams, procurement, and other departments to meet deadlines. Plan and prioritize team workload, adapting to changing circumstances and reporting progress effectively. Operational Management: Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are available, well-maintained, and used efficiently. Implement quality control measures to ensure high standards in project outputs and address issues promptly. Enforce health and safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure adherence to industry regulations. Streamline processes to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency. Liaise with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and address any concerns. Technical Documentation & Compliance: Generate and manage technical documentation in accordance with product development processes and company policies, including: Build logs Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) & Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) Equipment registers and calibrations Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Work with engineering managers to ensure all product and subsystem requirements are met across projects. Training & Development: Provide training and mentorship to team members to build skills and foster a collaborative work environment. Ensure all workshop staff follow safe and efficient Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). On-Site Work Requirements: Travel to customer sites as required, sometimes working alone and for extended periods. Essential Skills & Experience: Previous experience leading a team in a similar role or industry. Strong mechanical/engineering background. Proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks based on company objectives. Positive, proactive attitude with the ability to inspire and motivate others. Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify technical, systemic, or process-related issues and offer solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English). Full UK Driving License
