The Sizewell C (SZC) Project is seeking Head of Commercial professionals to join our dynamic teams. These positions are commercial leadership roles responsible for the procurement, negotiation and subsequent commercial management of SZC’s main construction contracts. The construction contracts are categorised by Programme and are broadly: Equipment, Conventional Island, Nuclear Island, MEH, Main Civil Works and Enabling Works. The Role As a Head of Commercial you’ll own and manage the commercial relationship with suppliers within the Programme portfolio. You’ll be the primary point of contact for all supply chain/commercial matters relating to its portfolio of suppliers/contracts and work closely and pro-actively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. This includes working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within its Programme. You’ll promote the SZC project, its values and behaviours at all times and ensure that SZC project requirements are met and successfully delivered. What you’ll be doing Procuring, negotiating and executing the construction contracts for the portfolio, evidencing that value for money (vfm) is secured at all times regardless of procurement route by promoting cost transparency and stakeholder requirements. Ensuring the procurement and contracting strategies meet the overall SZC Project objectives. Establishing, managing, tracking and taking the necessary corrective action to ensure the portfolio of procurements meets the overall Integrated Work Schedule (IWS) milestones and adequate time is allowed to successfully procure packages. Undertaking correct administration of ‘vendor assessment’, information exchange via procurement electronic portal tools, along with ITT preparation, evaluation and negotiation, ensuring that selected tenders are compliant with the scope and commercial requirements. Managing all awarded contracts within a portfolio in accordance with the contract terms, SZC governance requirements and SZC Project objectives and to successful portfolio-close. Providing an overview of the individual contracts within a portfolio to ensure compatibility and alignment with other projects and regular reporting of topics including: scope of work/services; schedule; prices and incentive arrangements. At all times strive for win-win, equitable outcomes for all parties to facilitate rapid resolution of commercial matters/close out. What We’re Looking For… • Member of RICS/ICE/CICES/IOB/CIPS or equivalent professional body. • Proven ability of working at a senior level within a complex major project/programme environment, managing teams in both procurement and post-procurement phases. • Evidence of successfully undertaking complex procurements and of administering contracts. • Effective Commercial Management and Leadership skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies in the UK environment. • Honed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on complex matters of high financial value. • Excellent understanding of procurement, contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management. • Excellent negotiating, influencing and communication skills. • Excellent problem-solving skills. • Experience of working in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders. • Experience of standard forms of contract (NEC and FIDIC) within the power/construction industry on complex major projects/programmes.
