As our Head of Dispute Resolution (Professional Development), you will be responsible for the quality and delivery of the Professional Development, Dispute Resolution Programme at ULaw. You will also be responsible for the ongoing development of training for those seeking Solicitors’ Higher Rights of Audience.
You must be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with practical dispute resolution experience and experience of teaching and assessing Advocacy at a senior level. We are also looking for individuals who have high levels of enthusiasm, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This role adopts a hybrid approach spending some time from home and the other from any of our UK ULaw campuses; Birmingham, Bristol, London Bloomsbury, London Moorgate, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham.
The position is permanent, working 40 hours per week.
As our Head of Dispute Resolution, you will:
* Lead the Dispute Resolution element of the University’s Professional Development Programme, reporting directly to the National Programme Director.
* Lead on the development and delivery of the training for the Higher Rights of Audience assessment, including the design and content of the training to prepare candidates for the SRA Higher Rights Assessment.
* Manage all lecturers and visiting lecturers working on the Programme.
* Personally teach and provide a high quality standard of tuition to trainee solicitors, and personally deliver post-qualification dispute resolution training to solicitors, including partners.
* Ensure the quality of all teaching and tuition of the programme and Higher Rights of Audience by all lecturers and visiting lecturers, including as and when necessary observing teaching, giving feedback, and following up on required changes.
Is this you?
* Qualified Solicitor or Barrister, with substantial practice/chamber experience.
* Either a holder of Higher Rights of Audience or a close familiarity with the competencies required for the assessment.
* Management experience and leadership skills within a legal practice or educational setting.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Strong level of commercial acumen.
* Credible: commands respect of practitioners in the subject area at all levels, including partners.
