An opportunity has arisen in Calor Direct for the recruitment of a General Manager, who will be responsible for improving efficiency and profitability while managing multi-site operations, ensuring effective distribution of cylinders, and the strategic business development and growth of Calor Direct while maintaining high levels of customer and stakeholder satisfaction across the network.
The General Manager will develop the strategic direction of Calor Direct in line with business strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering budgeted volume, driving growth and retention and ultimately shaping the future of Calor Direct. They will be required to implement operational strategies, lead and motivate the team, collaborate with Commercial Sales on growth and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning:
o Develop and implement strategic direction for Calor Direct in line with company strategy.
o Identify new business opportunities and market trends.
o Collaborate with senior management to align strategies with overall business objectives.
2. Operational Management:
o Lead operations of cylinder delivery, inventory management, administration & fleet.
o Develop and implement operational efficiencies and effectiveness throughout the network.
o Create, monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and identify areas for improvement.
3. Commercial Growth and Development:
o In collaboration with Sales Team, grow volumes through identifying new market opportunities.
o Utilise insights to drive informed decision-making, identify opportunities for volumes growth, and mitigate risks.
o Margin management of new and existing customers.
o Collaborate closely with Marketing for campaign development and marketing support.
4. Team Leadership:
o Lead, manage, and mentor team leaders directly and indirectly the wider team.
o Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and professional development.
5. Stakeholder Management:
o Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Sales Team to create optimum working relationships to deliver growth and success.
o Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, internal teams and key stakeholders.
o Foster strong cross functional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Finance, QHSE and HR.
o Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through efficient and reliable service.
6. Financial Management:
o Prepare and manage budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure financial targets are met.
o Analyse financial data and develop strategies to optimise profitability.
o Leverage data analytics and business intelligence tools to gain deep insights into customer behavior, market trends, and operational performance.
7. Safety and Compliance:
o Ensure all operations comply with QHSE, relevant safety standards & regulatory requirements.
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Person Specification
* Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field such as Logistics, Supply Chain Management would be beneficial but is not essential.
* 10 years management experience in a general managerial role.
* A strategic, dynamic individual who drives continuous improvement and change
* Demonstrable strong commercial sales experience with a proven track record in achieving results.
* Proven people leadership; managing a high performing team.
* An in-depth understanding and knowledge of key stakeholders within the cylinder business e.g. dealers, distributors, consumers, etc.
* Excellent presentation skills in addition to being analytical and a creative thinker.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial management.
* Results-oriented mindset and a passion for driving continuous improvement.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
* Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the logistics industry would be beneficial.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Proficiency in using systems and MS Office Suite.
