Job Description My client are hiring for an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to work on £4m work per year, focusing on the FM and Maintenance side for various high profile retail clients, experience in similar roles is essential. Day to day duties to include: Participate in initial site visits, assessments, and project commencement meetings to support accurate setup and alignment between timelines and cost plans Develop detailed cost plans and budget estimates for various projects, ensuring smooth commercial handover to the execution team Oversee multiple ongoing projects simultaneously, maintaining strong commercial oversight and compliance with relevant contractual requirements Maintain direct communication with external project commercial representatives to ensure alignment on all financial matters Issue procurement enquiries to subcontractors, assess responses, and place orders in accordance with agreed commercial and contractual frameworks Prepare comparative analyses of subcontractor proposals, negotiate terms to enhance value, and mitigate risk effectively Provide commercial insights and support to project and operational teams throughout the lifecycle of the projects Prepare and manage bills of quantities, variations, and valuations for both client-side and subcontractor-side engagements Monitor and report project financial performance through Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) processes, highlighting key risks and opportunities Ensure adherence to all commercial and contractual terms outlined in primary and subcontract agreements Manage and document client-driven changes, submitting variations promptly and ensuring agreement while reviewing subcontractor accounts critically Optimize project cash flow by proactive valuation, accurate forecasting, and timely invoicing Coordinate interim and final account submissions, working closely with finance to support accurate payment procedures Forecast and track project cash flow, identifying and addressing potential issues early to safeguard delivery performance Support senior commercial leadership with strategic tasks and initiatives as required Take part in post-project reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote continuous improvement across commercial practices Experience: Minimum of 3 years within a similar role. Strong knowledge of commercial contracts within construction, ideally JCT. Background in retail construction Qualifications: Educated to GCSE Standard (or equivalent) including English and Maths. Degree, BTEC or HND/HNC ( or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or other construction related studies (preferred). Preferably qualified or working to qualification under Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
