About the Role and our Ideal Candidate
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker to join as a Senior Social Work Practitioner to assist the senior members to supervise social care staff to effectively manage their casework, oversee the team's duty system, undertake and oversee safeguarding enquiries, as well as manage a small complex caseload.
Our Ideal Candidate:
You would be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and have relevant post qualifying experience. You must have excellent communication skills, sound knowledge of relevant legislation, and the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with people.
You must also have experience of undertaking adult safeguarding enquiries and demonstrate experience of managing and overseeing high volumes of work. Experience of supervising social care staff would be an advantage.
The main responsibilities of the post will be:
* To carry a caseload of complex cases, including those where there are high levels of risk.
* To undertake Safeguarding enquiries and oversee the management of enquiries by staff.
* To provide both formal and informal supervision to other members of the team.
* To assist in the day-to-day running of the team and deputise in the absence of the Team Manager and Deputy.
* To be part of the Lead Practitioner group and contribute to service development.
* To manage allocations.
* To supervise staff.
* To be creative/confident in support planning to effectively create care packages and support others to do so.
* To share management of the team’s duty system.
About Us
The Community Learning Disability Team is a very friendly, motivated, and dedicated team of Social Care Staff. Our team undertakes care management and safeguarding responsibilities in line with the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and other relevant adult social care legislation and guidance.
We work closely with a multi-disciplinary health team including Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Community Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Counsellors, and Behaviour Analysts to support adults with Learning Disabilities and associated complex needs.
The team also provides a transition service by working closely with Children Social Care and Special Education Needs in line with the Children and Families Act 2014 to support young people who would be eligible for adult social care to have a smooth transfer to adult service.
We support adults and their carers in a person-centred way to assess their needs and create effective outcome-focused support plans.
