JOB DESCRIPTION Job title: Group Management Accountant Location: Edinburgh Reporting to: Finance Director Date: October 2017 Job Purpose: The Group Management Accountant / Financial Controller Designate is responsible for assisting with the financial management of the group, including management of the finance team, corporate accounting and financial reporting, together with project support for the Finance Director. Key Responsibilities: Manage all accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll. Prepare monthly management accounts for the holding companies. Prepare consolidated monthly financial statements including full variance analysis. Prepare departmental analysis as required for different business areas. Support month-end and year-end close process. Support audits by preparing information together and acting as first point of contact for all queries including tax matters. Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations. Assist the Finance Director with research into pricing, competitors and factors affecting performance. Undertake strategic analysis and assist the Finance Director with strategic planning. Review all financial plans regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities. Provide leadership to and support the Finance Manager and Management Accountants. Mentoring, coaching, management support and development including appraisals, evaluations and reporting of individual performance targets for your direct reports, plus oversight of their direct reports. Performance monitoring and setting and reporting of the teams KPIs, targets and goals to the Finance Director and CFO as required. Additional Responsibilities: Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director. PERSON SPECIFICATION Education & Qualifications Essential Qualified member of a recognised accountancy body. Minimum degree level or equivalent in relevant discipline / proven financial working experience. Minimum GCSE / O level, or equivalent, in English and Maths. Desirable Full UK Driving Licence. Experience Essential Previous experience as a Senior Management Accountant / Financial Controller. Extensive experience with creating financial statements. Extensive experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process. Extensive experience with Microsoft packages, in particular Excel at advanced level (i.e. ability to create complex formulas, pivot tables). Extensive experience in using computerised accounting systems and online banking systems. Previous experience working as a Team Leader and managing a team.
