Job summary EXCITING FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF OUR PAEDIATRIC ASSESSMENT UNIT Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our friendly assessment unit as a paediatric outreach nurse. This is a new post to ensure care is provided closer to home and the post holder will be visiting children who have recently been discharged at home to provide support and any follow up care. This is an exciting time as we develop a strong nursing team to develop our paediatric assessment unit. We are looking for qualified paediatric nurses to ensure outstanding care is given to all children by working with our paediatric community services to ensure care is given where appropriate at home and the team on the paediatric assessment unit who will be involved in implementing these pathways as well visiting children and families at home within their role. The post holder will also be visible on the paediatric assessment area for support to staff and ensure early discharge when appropriate. Main duties of the job We offer a 6-month probationary period with two weeks supernumerary period (option to extend if needed), and a full trust induction inclusive of training specific to paediatrics. We encourage and support staff to maintain and enhance skills by offering programmes such as APLS and days catered towards the safe stabilisation of the critically ill child run alongside critical care operational delivery network. Other specific, enhanced programmes are encouraged. We are always seeking ways to improve the standard of our learning environment and we do this through our close relationship with The University of Huddersfield supporting both pre and post graduate students. We encourage all staff members to complete the mentorship course offered to them. In our last CQC report the trust scored overall a result of good, with services for Children and Young People scoring good in all domains. We are proud of this result and believe this is due to not only the high standard of care we provide for all our patients, but due to the close and supportive bond we have developed as a team.
