We are looking for an experienced midwife seeking a new and exciting challenge to join our existing team of enthusiastic matrons. You will provide clinical, professional, and managerial leadership to positively impact the quality of care, culture of the workforce, staff engagement, efficiency, effectiveness, and performance. You will be responsible for ensuring women/birthing people and their families receive high-quality evidence-based compassionate care, and staff are supported and developed to deliver high-quality care. You will be expected to contribute to the senior manager on-call roster.
Work collaboratively with the Head of Midwifery, the other matrons, and ward managers to take professional and operational responsibility for all nursing and midwifery staff within the service.
To oversee nursing and midwifery care provision in Joan Booker Ward (JBW-postnatal and antenatal ward), Antenatal Clinic (ANC), and Maternity Day Assessment Unit (MDAU) and ensure the care and the environment in which the care is provided is safe for staff, women/birthing people, and their families.
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified as appropriate to knowledge and training to meet the service needs and contribute to the senior manager on-call roster.
Communicate effectively at all times and maintain a harmonious working environment.
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge by being visible, accessible, and using clinical skills within the workplace as appropriate.
Supervise the annual appraisal of staff within JBW, ANC, and MDAU and undertake individual performance review and setting of objectives for the development of Band 7 Midwives within the unit.
Supervise the response to complaints, clinical incidents, and respond where appropriate ensuring robust systems are developed and implemented to inform and improve practice.
Undertake responsibility for tasks delegated by the Head of Midwifery.
