You will be actively involved in applying High Grade cryptography and key management expertise to support high security systems and military platforms that matter for the UK.

What does the Crypto Security team do?
The team’s primary focus is working as part of the HMG team to understand what new crypto technology is able to provide and then introducing the technology into service. We work as a team, with a wide range of customers, industry partners and international partners.
Day to day working with colleagues from different professional disciplines and organisations we will;
* Provide consulting support
* Develop concepts of use in the face of changing threats
* Develop cryptographic protocols and standards within the UK and internationally for a wide range of applications including voice, network, radio communications and key management
* Develop prototypes and system demonstrators
* Support integration and testing
* Provide in service support and training

Opportunities for early career Crypto Security Specialists
Looking for your next step and have some experience in crypto? Your talents may be a good match for our team. We recruit engineers, scientists, mathematicians and IT specialists with transferable skillsets. Although we will aim to utilise your existing experience as the crypto domain is a specialist area you can expect ongoing development to help you excel and advance. Typical responsibilities would include:
* Researching new topics and technologies

* Generating technical reports and presenting results
Opportunities for mid-career Crypto Security Specialists
As a Crypto Security Specialist working in industry or academia, you’ll be applying your expertise right from day one. You will use your experience to apply High Grade cryptography and key management expertise to customer mission challenges through research, advice, consultancy or engineering and working with colleagues from different professional disciplines and organisations. Responsibilities include:
* Lead technical work to identify and derive security requirements, develop/analyse innovative solutions, and understand/shape both the “big picture” and technical details in crypto security domain
* Demonstrate an adversarial mind-set. How to attack and break the security of systems
* Demonstrate critical thinking to analyse and solve problems as they arise
* Deliver high quality analysis, designs, reports, and presentations that focus on customer problems and solutions in the crypto-security domain and develop positive customer and stakeholder relationships
* Collaborate and consult as part of a team in response to requests in the crypto security domain
Opportunities for highly experienced Crypto Security Specialists
Building on your recognised expertise in the stakeholder community, you will provide technical leadership of QinetiQ crypto-security activities across business development, delivery, stakeholder engagement and team capability building. Responsibilities would include:
* Forging relationships with senior stakeholders, to understand their strategic ambitions and influence the direction of future crypto-security to promote the required outcomes.
* Working with existing and new customers to shape and win specific opportunities, drawing on capabilities across the QinetiQ business.
* Leading high value, complex technical delivery to the required level of assurance, working with multiple disciplines across different stages of the engineering lifecycle, diverse stakeholder priorities and collaborative teams drawn from HMG and industry.
* Helping to build the capability of the Crypto Security Team, through coaching of others, improving existing practices and highlighting new technical developments that could be applied to stakeholder needs.
* Promoting coherence across QinetiQ and external stakeholder activities, by understanding the impact of individual tasks on wider strategies and identifying opportunities for harmonisation and collaboration.
This role is 37 hours per week based at Malvern. Hybrid working patterns available.
