Job Description
Payroll Officer
Are you ready to take your career in payroll to the next level? Our client is offering a unique opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join their team on a temporary basis.
What’s on Offer?
* Pay rate: £15-17.50p/h, based on experience
* 6-month temporary role
* Hybrid working available
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Payroll Manager in delivering compliant payroll services for 15,000 employees
* Maintain data consistency and integrity within SAP and supporting systems, ensuring GDPR compliance
* Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in payroll processes
* Conduct user acceptance testing for payroll systems post-software upgrades and legislative updates
* Collaborate with the systems development team to request and test configuration changes
* Manage monthly and annual reporting, reconciliation, and payment generation for internal and external stakeholders
* Deputise for the Payroll Manager and support the administration team with day-to-day queries
* Reconcile Government Gateway Dashboard to mitigate financial risks
* Provide expert payroll advice, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations
* Oversee onboarding of new payroll business into the payroll system
* Create and maintain departmental procedures and guidance notes
Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements:
* 5 QCF Level 2 qualifications, including Maths and English
* Willingness to work towards a CIPP qualification or equivalent payroll certification
* Experience with SAP systems related to payroll
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
* Excellent report writing and data analysis capabilities
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Problem-solving abilities and the capability to implement solutions
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel with Macros/VBA
* Understanding of payroll statutory legislation
* Experience working in a payroll team and delivering customer-oriented services
* Ability to manage conflicting demands and meet tight deadlines
