Job summary Ward 305 is a fast paced 31 bedded Medical ward specialising in Gastroenterology. We are looking for warm, friendly and welcoming staff to join our team. This is a front facing role, you will have interactions between staff, patients and their relatives. We require a warm and friendly person to initially greet women when they first arrive to the department. A 4 week supernumerary period with training would be provided with ongoing training and development. Contact us for an informal visit or a chat. This is a very rewarding role. Main duties of the job Receive/welcome visitors onto the department and inform the nurse in charge or the senior sister of any query they may have. To use patient administration system and other Trust applications required to support the patient's admission. Responsible for dealing with all queries, either via telephone or face to face promptly and efficiently. Responsible for completion of general administration tasks, including filing, photocopying, completion of the admission/discharge book, GP and clinic letters, arrangement of patient follow up appointments, all case-note preparation for admissions, ensuring tests/investigations are correctly completed. Order and maintain the departments supplies as necessary and in accordance with Trust policies. The successful applicant will need to have experience dealing with the general public, they will have good IT skills and remain calm under pressure in this challenging role. You will require strong communication skills as you will be providing an effective face to face/telephone reception service using verbal and written communication to liaise with patients, relatives, staff, wards/units, directorates and external agencies/people to support the delivery of an efficient patient service. You will be required to demonstrate sensitivity and discretion.
