Overview:
A leading global payments platform, based in the City of London, is seeking a Director of Business Development for their Enterprise Payments division. The company operates a highly scalable, API-first cross-border payments platform that enables enterprises to send, manage, and receive payments globally. With offices worldwide and a large team of employees, the company offers an innovative solution for businesses dealing with complex payment needs in multiple regions.
Role Overview:
The Director of Business Development – Enterprise Payments will be responsible for driving growth in the enterprise payments sector. This position focuses on forming strategic partnerships with large enterprises, marketplaces, and platform businesses. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in business development, a deep understanding of payment ecosystems, and a robust network. This role requires a consultative sales approach and an ability to develop and secure high-value relationships that help enterprise clients optimize their global payment flows.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Enterprise Sales & Growth Strategy
2. Identify, pursue, and secure partnerships with high-value enterprise clients such as large marketplaces, digital platforms, and major technology manufacturers.
3. Develop and execute go-to-market strategies aimed at enabling end-to-end payment solutions, including acquiring, issuing, and B2B payments.
4. Build strong, lasting relationships with enterprise clients across multiple levels, becoming their go-to contact for payment solutions.
5. Lead complex negotiations with C-suite executives to establish long-term, strategic partnerships.
6. Market Expansion & Competitive Positioning
7. Identify new verticals and emerging payment trends to expand market reach.
8. Analyze competitive positioning and create value-driven propositions tailored to enterprise clients.
9. Collaborate with marketing and product teams to refine messaging and sales strategies for acquiring and issuing solutions.
10. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution
11. Work closely with Product, Compliance, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and execution of payment solutions.
12. Manage sales forecasting, pipeline management, and track revenue growth to meet company targets.
Experience & Skills:
1. 8-10 years of experience in business development, enterprise sales, or strategic partnerships within payments, fintech, or cross-border payments.
2. Established network with enterprise clients, including marketplaces, digital platforms, and multinational corporations.
3. Previous exposure to large corporations, ideally within the Payment/Banking or Business Development sectors.
4. Experience working with or covering Chinese multinational enterprises is a plus.
5. Proven track record of closing complex, large deals and consistently exceeding revenue targets.
Qualifications:
1. A degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills and business acumen.
3. Persistent, strategic, and results-driven with the ability to develop and execute impactful business development strategies.
4. Strong consultative sales approach with experience negotiating with C-level executives in enterprise environments.
