Pathology Support Worker, Cellular Pathology
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly adaptable individual to join our reception team at St. Mary's Hospital Cellular Pathology Department.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Supporting the Biomedical Scientists in the laboratory by maintaining equipment.
2. Changing reagents and washing up laboratory glassware.
3. Receiving supplies and filing microscope slides and cassettes.
4. Demonstrating an organised and thorough approach to work.
5. Participating in stock control for laboratory consumables.
6. Performing general laboratory duties including block, slide, and paperwork retrieval and filing.
7. Scanning, photocopying, and general administrative duties.
8. Entering patient details and tests required onto the laboratory computer system; checking information with requestors if discrepancies are noted.
9. Preparing cases to be referred to other laboratories.
10. Cleaning of laboratory equipment and other housekeeping duties as required.
Person Specification
Education
* GCSE passes in Maths, English, and Science or equivalent.
* Interest in Pathology.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
