Salaried GP(s) for expanding Luton practice, situated on the north side of Luton with excellent transport links. We are currently looking for a Salaried GP(s) to join our traditional but forward-thinking friendly practice for up to 4 sessions per week (Wednesday and Friday). You would be working as part of a Multidisciplinary team, caring for a diverse patient group in a very well-maintained purpose built practice building. We are a Training Practice and use System 1 Clinical System. High QoF achievers.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibility of the role includes undertaking a variety of duties including:
1. On call, surgery consultations, telephone consultations, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion, also when required visiting patients at home.
2. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
3. Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
4. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
5. Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
6. Providing health education.
7. Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards.
8. Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QoF requirements.
9. Delivering enhanced services.
10. Compiling and issuing computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
11. All general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About us
Larkside Practice is a busy training practice in Luton. We are part of eQuality PCN Network comprising of five local practices. We are looking for a caring, hard working and focused GP to join our practice, working as part of the team with other GPs. We have a full administrative support team, ANP, Practice Nurses HCA, Phlebotomists, Pharmacist. We host AAA Scanning, CAMHS and Mental Health Link Worker. We work as a team in a busy, friendly caring atmosphere.
Job responsibilities
The working day lasts from around 9.00 a.m. until 6.30 p.m. but this can vary. There are many opportunities to work flexibly or part time.
What to expect: there are usually two sessions with patients held each day, with appointments lasting about ten minutes each. You’ll work as part of a large multidisciplinary team that can include nurses and pharmacists. You’ll make home visits between sessions for patients who are unable to attend the surgery. Telephone consultations are becoming more common and the use of different forms of media is likely to expand in the future. We endeavour to ensure a work/life balance.
Person Specification
Experience
* We would expect your skills to include:
* Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management and primary prevention and screening services.
* Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your annual mandatory training is in date.
* Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, safeguarding and health and safety.
* Commitment to life long learning and audit to ensure evidence based best practice.
* Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
* Relevant experience of working in a GP Practice.
Qualifications
* You will have the following qualifications:
* Fully qualified GP with GMC registration.
* Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate).
* Be on the NHSE medical performers list.
* Up to date with annual Statutory Mandatory Training.
* A full clean driving licence.
