We are currently transforming our service to improve the care standards for clients who access our service within Sheffield. Main duties of the job
1. Provide specialist assessment, advice/education, and physiotherapy treatment programmes for Adults with Learning Disabilities presenting with a wide variety of (complex) physical/mental health needs in community settings.
2. Supervise/train Junior staff and students on placement from Sheffield Hallam University, working within the Learning Disability Physiotherapy Service.
3. Promote Physical Health and Wellbeing in line with Trust objectives.
4. Work as an autonomous practitioner within the Physiotherapy Learning Disability Team.
5. Provide leadership to junior staff, physiotherapy assistants, and students within our service area.
6. Be accountable, without direct supervision, for the provision of physiotherapy to Service Users referred to you directly and those clinically supervised by you, until discharged from the service.
7. Be a specialist resource and an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Knowledge and skills
Essential
* Core basic knowledge of musculoskeletal, neurology, and respiratory conditions.
* Knowledge and understanding of complex health needs and physiotherapy interventions to manage these.
* Effective interpersonal and teamworking skills.
Training and Qualifications
Essential
* Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy.
* Completed a recognised clinical educator course.
Experience
Essential
* Experience of working as a Band 5 in these physiotherapy areas: musculoskeletal, neurology, elderly, respiratory, and physical rehabilitation.
Desirable
* Experience of working with people with learning disabilities.
Other
Essential
* Ability to communicate with a range of people using effective communication and to identify and constructively manage barriers to effective communication.
* Knowledge of risk assessment.
