With teams in building, plumbing and planning, the Planning and Development Department falls within the Planning and Environmental Services directorate, tasked with governing development in Southern Downs and fostering growth in the region. The department raises community awareness of compliance with statutory requirements and educates the community on the broader land use policy.
Key functions of the department include assessing development applications and providing advice to developers, residents and elected members. In this role you will provide detailed advice to Council on the associated legislation governing planning and development, find creative solutions to development problems and be involved in the progression and review of strategic planning documents.

Play a critical role in the Planning and Development Department, responsible for raising community awareness and compliance with statutory requirements relating to building, plumbing and drainage. Key aspects of the role will be providing technical support and advice to contribute to the functions of the team, undertake preliminary assessment of building, plumbing and drainage applications to ensure compliance with the legislation, the implementation of procedures and guidelines in accordance with the legislation, and assisting with the development and implementation of new electronic systems.
Experience in building, plumbing and drainage or planning administration would be highly regarded.
Term: Full-time
Hours of Work: 72.5 hours per fortnight
Pay Level: $2,806.57 to $2,996.06 per fortnight (Level 3), plus superannuation and annual leave loading
In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependent on relevant skills and experience.
Employment Base: Warwick or Stanthorpe, Queensland (will be negotiated with successful candidate)

* Provide administration assistance in building and plumbing and drainage applications and the implementation of procedures and relevant legislation.
* Provide routine advice to both Council officers and the general public on building, plumbing and drainage applications and other administrative requirements.
* Process and assess routine building and plumbing and drainage applications in accordance with relevant legislation.
What You Will Need
To be considered for this role, you will need:
* The legal right to live and work in Australia.
* A Class C (Car) licence or greater is required in this role.
* A White construction card or the ability to obtain one is a mandatory requirement for this role.
* Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of development assessment processes, following documented processes and administrative tasks.
* Demonstrated ability to plan and organise workload to meet outcomes within required timeframes.
* Highly skilled in using computers and a wide range of software and online tools to support efficient and effective work.
* To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
