Job Title: IT Systems Support Engineer
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
Location: Wokingham, UK. Hybrid (Mon & Fri).

My client is a software company which has seen exceptional growth over the past few years and is continuing on the same path. They pride themselves on offering a culture that promises to aid in growth and development, making all employees feel valued and supported. They are about to undergo a migration into the Hyper V visualization system. This is just another step in their plan to grow and constantly improve, and they are looking for an IT Systems Support Engineer to support them in this migration period.
Your new role
This is a very varied role as you will be tasked with supporting the change in the system to Hyper V. This will be a main priority. However, you will be required to cover other aspects of IT support including O365 administration; tracking, managing, and updating incidents and requests within the IT service desk application. You will also be tasked with maintaining the availability of core network and infrastructure services, i.e., Firewalls, switches, VOIP services, Backup services, access to cloud/web-based services. In addition, you will be asked to collaborate with internal IT technical teams for the delivery of key projects and services to help expand and grow business-critical infrastructure.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have experience of building and managing workstations that are deployed via Microsoft Intune. You will have experience of managing SAN and NAS (Network Attached Storage) storage devices SMB and NFS. Along with having also managed network infrastructure, including LAN, VLAN, WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, VOIP, and protocols such as TCP/IP, SSH, SSL/TLS, HTTPS, SMTP, IMAP.
You should possess working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and network security principles, threat detection/management, and troubleshooting complex networking issues. They have experience of managing Microsoft Server, Active Directory, LDAP, DHCP, DNS, Microsoft Exchange. Experience of working with and supporting a mixed-platform environment, including Windows and macOS, will be beneficial.
Additionally, experience working with Visualization system Hyper V (preferred) or VMware is vital for success in this role. In terms of skills and aptitude, our client is looking for someone who has excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to think critically, time management and interpersonal skills, problem-solving and a proactive and can-do attitude when approaching tasks.
