Job Title: Senior Estimator Location: The Coach House, Tyttenhanger Park, Coursers Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL4 0PG Salary: £90,000 to £100,000 Start Date: 01/03/2024 Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to lead and deliver estimates for civil engineering projects. In this role, you will take ownership of tender processes, mentor junior estimators, and work collaboratively with tender teams to develop winning strategies and secure projects aligned with the company’s goals. Key Responsibilities: Lead Estimates: Prepare estimates following company procedures. Oversee larger tenders, mentoring junior estimators. Identify risks and opportunities throughout the tender process. Collaboration: Work with bid teams, planners, and business units to develop methodologies and principles. Provide indicative pricing for business development opportunities. Documentation & Handover: Maintain detailed tender estimate files and key assumptions. Prepare handover packs and notes for site teams post-contract award. Support site teams with estimate clarifications when needed. Customer Engagement: Present estimates during adjudication and maintain records. Participate in customer negotiations and provide amendments as necessary. Key Measures & Targets: Deliver consistent and competitive tender submissions. Develop and execute tender win strategies with business unit teams. Ensure tenders are both technically feasible and profitable. Person Specification: Essential: Background in engineering or commerce. HNC or equivalent in a related engineering qualification. Proven experience in civil and water sectors, including tenders up to £50m. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Strong interpersonal skills to engage with clients and teams at all levels. Ability to develop feasible and profitable tender submissions. Desirable: Knowledge of wastewater, rail, or tunneling sectors. Experience using CANDY software. Chartered or incorporated status. Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time (40 hrs/week).
