An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join the Shevington ward acute inpatient medical ward nursing team, to provide bespoke care for patients with Gastroenterology acute and chronic conditions.
PLEASE NOTE - Candidates must hold valid NMC Registration.
This vacancy is being advertised on a fixed term basis up until 14th April 2025 as it has been established to provide cover for a secondment.
This vacancy may become permanent in the future but please note this may be on another Trust Site/Ward or Department.

Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of the ward manager the nurse is responsible for the provision, organisation and direction of nursing care of the patients in his/her care.
To communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and high quality care is provided to all patients.

1. Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
Responsibility for Teaching
1. Take personal responsibility for developing and maintain own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in conjunction with NMC guidance.
2. Attend mandatory training as directed by Trust.
3. In conjunction with the ward manager, help create and maintain a suitable learning environment for staff and students and act as a mentor in the supervision and teaching of less experienced staff.
4. To develop own teaching skills and participate in education programmes supervising unqualified nurses and students as directed.

1. Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
