Purpose of role: The Deputy Manager will support the work of the Hostel Manager, to manage the Hostel site and management, whilst growing the sales and overnight accommodation of the Hostel in the local area. Main duties Assist the Hostel Manager with guest and group bookings, ensuring excellent customer service. Deputise for the Manager as needed and support site management, including health and safety, risk assessment, safeguarding, fire safety, and property maintenance. Oversee staff rotas and line manage Hostel Assistants, Housekeepers, and casual staff, ensuring adequate 24-hour coverage, including weekends and leave planning. Manage cleanliness standards, including daily/weekly room maintenance, laundry duties, and inventory tracking. Support financial management, including budgeting, cash flow analysis, and revenue forecasting. Assist in hostel growth and development opportunities, including property expansion and stakeholder engagement. Contribute to marketing and business strategies, including social media, to maximise income. Attend management meetings, report on targets, and ensure compliance with HINI policies and branding guidelines. Perform additional tasks as needed, including weekend shifts. Essential Criteria Experience in Hospitality and Accommodation including excellent customer service skills Experience in managing staff, developing and maintaining staff rotas and using booking systems. Experience in housekeeping and back of house management. Experience in shift work including weekends and other associated hours for accommodation provision. Experience/knowledge of planning and scheduling within the hospitality sector or similar environment Desirable criteria Experience in hospitality, tourism, and the accommodation sector or equivalent. Ability to manage teams with a high level of customer focus Strong focus on guest satisfaction Excellent communication skills Able to demonstrate managing and coaching of others to develop skills and performance Terms of employment Two-year fixed-term contract NJC Scale 5 point 13 £28,163 pro rata with possible extension of permanent contract subject to funding requirements. Annual Leave entitlement based on pro rata basis plus 10 recognised statutory holidays. Core contracted hours: 30 35 hours per week Monday to Sunday, including weekends and nighttime duties.
