We are working with a Tier 1 national contractor who is in need of a Quantity Surveyor to join their M&E business team.
They are one of the largest building and MEP contractors in the UK and work on Framework and targeted 2 stage, negotiated bids only. Your role will be to work with the teams delivering projects in the Berkshire, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire areas. Projects are valued between £25 to £150 million and range from education, MOJ, office schemes, refurbishments, data centres, and commercial/industrial schemes.
The initial scheme is a major new redevelopment of an existing prison complex and is a joint venture between their construction team and in-house M&E services team, so teamwork, collaboration, and information flow are paramount.
The MEP package is valued at circa £30 million.
They are open to candidates from a specialist MEP subcontractor background or Tier 1 or 2 contractor with experience managing complex MEP packages on major projects.
The role involves working on bid and preconstruction with the estimating and design teams to analyze and investigate the best ways to deliver the scheme in terms of budget, quality, and performance. You will identify and partner with specialist subcontractors as well as in-house delivery teams. Once through the bid and 2nd stage negotiations, you will be taking the schemes out onto site. You will be overseeing an Assistant QS on site and will have responsibility for the commercial health of the M&E elements of the projects, including managing subcontract packages, procurement of materials and plant, remeasure, valuations, payments, managing variation accounts, forecasting, and CVRs.
