This business has seen significant growth over recent years including high capital investment in plant equipment and further investment in its infrastructure and people to remain at the forefront of its industry.
As part of its continued development, the company is now seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead day-to-day maintenance operations while fostering a proactive, improvement-focused culture across the engineering team.
Position Overview
W Talent Manufacturing and Technical are recruiting for a hands-on and apprentice-trained Engineering Manager to take full responsibility for all maintenance operations at this industrial processing manufacturing facility in Peterborough. This is a key leadership role, responsible not only for ensuring equipment reliability and minimal downtime but also for instilling a preventative maintenance mindset and driving a positive behavioural change across the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement robust maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure maximum uptime and equipment reliability.
* Plan and execute a comprehensive preventative maintenance programme to reduce reactive work and enhance operational efficiency.
* Lead, develop, and inspire a team of multi-skilled maintenance engineers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
* Challenge the status quo by encouraging a proactive approach and embedding lean principles.
* Collaborate closely with production teams to align maintenance activities with operational priorities.
* Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify maintenance needs and resolve issues promptly.
* Manage the procurement of spares and consumables, ensuring cost-effective stock control and supplier management.
* Monitor key maintenance KPIs and drive performance improvements to reduce downtime and maintenance spend.
* Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a strong safety culture.
* Develop, monitor, and control the maintenance budget, identifying areas for savings and reinvestment.
Key Requirements
* HNC/HND qualified and apprentice trained in a relevant engineering discipline (essential).
* A bachelor's degree in engineering would be beneficial.
* Multi-skilled engineering knowledge (mechanical and electrical) is advantageous.
* Demonstrated experience in maintenance leadership within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Strong working knowledge of health & safety standards and regulatory compliance.
* Skilled in the use of CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) and Microsoft Office applications.
* Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams while driving cultural and operational improvements.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-output manufacturing setting.
