Job summary PHU Radiotherapy are excited to offer this new opportunity of a Gynaecology Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) due to our current Brachytherapy AP retiring in the summer of 2025. We have modernised and adapted their role and job description to include leading in both EBRT and Brachytherapy services for Gynaecology cancer patients. The clinical aspect of the four pillars will also include side-effect management, follow-up reviews and brachytherapy pre-assessment. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Radiotherapy Advanced Practitioner to join our dynamic oncology team, leading advancements in radiotherapy and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. In this role, you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and refine radiotherapy protocols. You will play a key role in patient management, service development, treatment planning and delivery for both EBRT and Brachytherapy services. You will play a vital role in mentoring, developing and line managing two band 6 Gynaecology Enhanced Practitioners (EP) who have a defined scope of practice and a portfolio to maintain which will support the ACP's clinical and non-clinical practice. Within the last year we have introduced many EP roles to our department as we modernise staffing opportunities, as well as Gynaecology we have introduced Urology, Breast, HN, CT, review and have plans to increase these roles in the future Main duties of the job We have four True Beam 3.0 linear accelerators with advanced online IGRT imaging and two of these have 6DOF capability. We treat using SABR for Prostate, Lung and oligometastatic disease and are due to start Spine SABR this year. Our radiographers lead on transabdominal ultrasound to aid brachytherapy applicator placement and we use the Bravos HDR unit with rad-led planning via Brachyvision, applicator insertions and vaginal vault procedures. Everything in the radiotherapy department is connected via ARIA V15.5 and we are a paperless department for all aspects of the patient pathway. We have ambitions to implement SGRT this year and have recently started a project to introduce Adaptive Gynae EBRT via a "plan of the day" technique which we would expect the Gynae ACP to lead on with the consultant, IGRT lead and Gynae EP's. We use the Raystation treatment planning system, utilising AI auto contouring features to aid the efficiency in the patient pathway. Successful candidates will start with structured objectives and SMART goals for their first 12 months and will be provided with the opportunity to define their own scope of practice and create a dynamic job plan to help organise their clinical and non-clinical time. As a department, we have experience in training consultant radiographers in Urology and Breast. There is potential in this post to go onto a trainee pathway for a consultant radiographer post with further training in the future if opportunities arise About us Here at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, we are proud to provide expert, compassionate care for our local population.
