Our clients based close to Haslemere have an interesting opportunity for a Quality Control Technician to join their growing team. It’s a great opportunity for someone with raw materials or a chemistry background, who is keen to get experience across the board, in a Quality Control Lab. The Quality Control Technician will approve the quality and compliance of all incoming materials and manufactured raw materials compounds by QC laboratory analysis, testing, and pre agreed specifications. Core Responsibilities Analysis and odour evaluation of all incoming materials and all manufactured fragrance compounds Use of laboratory testing instruments such as refractometers, density meters, viscosity meters and Gas chromatography plus the oversee of maintenance and calibration requirements. To agree material specifications with suppliers and to agree compound specification with customers and to produce certificate of analysis for all compounds supplied to customers. Identifying any raw material that does not meet specification, raising non-conformance and working with procurement and the supplier to provide evidence for rejection. Identifying any laboratory or production item that does not meet specification, raising non-conformance CAPA reports and working with production to rectify the issue. To liaise with internal departments, suppliers and customers regarding quality issues to ensure fragrance safety and quality standards. To contribute to re-testing meetings and where necessary perform re-test analysis of materials that are close to their expiry date. To contribute to Homologation meetings and where necessary perform analysis of new raw materials before approval is given to purchase. Housekeeping within the QC laboratories including administrative tasks such as timely completion of batch detail records and management of retained reference samples. Participation in staff training in quality culture. Ideal skills & experience: Knowledge & understanding of raw materials Experience within a lab – Quality lab would be desirable Chemistry background – Cosmetic science, materials chemistry, or organic chemistry Good sense of smell and olfactory memory.
