STADA UK Thornton & Ross – Engineering (Automation) Apprentice
Huddersfield | U.K. | Full-time | Fixed-Term 50 months
In this newly created role, you will be immersed in the Engineering team at STADA. You will work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining valuable experience in Automation, troubleshooting systems and equipment, while learning to maintain software, robotics, and machinery in the organisation.
This role is specifically aimed at a GCSE, A-Level, or T-Level student who is looking for the first step on the career ladder. Alongside your role as the Automation Apprentice, you will undertake the 48-month Automation and Controls Engineering (Level 4) Apprenticeship to achieve your qualification through a mixture of on-site and online academic learning.
How You Will Make an Impact
On a day-to-day basis your key responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting Front Line Manufacturing: Engage in hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving for PLC systems, gaining valuable experience in real-time issue resolution.
2. Designing and Testing Automation: Assisting development and testing automation equipment and processes, enhancing your understanding of cutting-edge technologies.
3. Programming New Components: Learn how to program new automated components, expanding your technical expertise.
4. Eliminating Defects: Work on identifying and eliminating defects and errors in product and machine operations, honing your analytical skills.
5. Software and Hardware Maintenance: Gain practical experience in maintaining both software and hardware systems.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
1. Be educated to at least A-Level, with a minimum of two A-Level passes at grade C or above in a mathematical-based subject and a science, technology, engineering, or an additional mathematics-related subject (or predicted grades if completing A levels in summer 2025).
2. Have a keen interest in robotics, AI, and machine learning as well as project management.
3. Have an interest in computer programming and software development.
4. Possess good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage various stakeholders in person, by phone, chat messaging, and email.
5. Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
6. Exhibit strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
7. Have good IT skills with a proven ability to use Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
8. Show a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
