Description Are you interested in the opportunity to own and drive corporate governance within the Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA)? The agency administers pensions for Scottish Teachers, Police, Firefighters’ and National Health Service employees on behalf of the Scottish Government. As Corporate Governance Manager, you will deliver efficient and appropriate corporate governance, developing and ensuring compliance with organisational governance measures. You will be responsible for leading a small team to ensure delivery of corporate governance priorities, including various governance boards. You will maintain key governance documents and drive a culture of continuous improvement with the team. You will work closely with both senior SPPA colleagues and external board stakeholders alike. Responsibilities Effectively deliver the SPPA Corporate Governance Boards, ensuring board matters are effective, efficient, distinct and adhere to regulatory frameworks. This includes the SPPA Pensions Boards, the Management Advisory Board and the Audit & Risk Committee. Oversee continuous improvement of key governance and Boards documentation and ways of working, ensuring the team shares best practice across all Boards to maximise commonality and consistency of process, documentation and efficiency. Lead the development and delivery of the SPPA’s governance structures and take ownership of the SPPA Agency Framework Document, ensuring it is maintained and updated when necessary and supports our strategic relationships with Scottish Government, Ministers and elected officials. Ensure SPPA complies with legal and regulatory obligations in respect of The Pensions Regulator, including reporting of breaches and tracking adherence to Code of Practice requirements, ensuring implementation and coordination of actions where necessary to address identified shortfalls. Own processes and ways of working for the coordination of SPPA Freedom of Information Requests, ensuring responses in a timely manner and in accordance with all Freedom of Information legislation. Oversee coordination and delivery of all training arrangements and succession planning for Boards and Board members, ensuring board members can adequately and efficiently carry out their responsibilities. Lead the preparation and production of an annual Governance Statement which compliments and forms part of Agency and Pension Scheme Annual Reporting. Support the work of the SPPA Executive team by enhancing the practices and processes aligned with the boards. Engage senior colleagues across SPPA to ensure the Agency’s compliance, accountability, and efficiency. Line management responsibility for two Governance Delivery Leads.
