Due to an increase in demand and continual improvements to their already well-reputable site, our market leading Food Industry client are now recruiting for a HSE Manager to join their team in the Widnes/ Runcorn Area on a days-based position.
This role offers the opportunity to work for a rapidly growing company, aiming to become a market leader within the chemicals industry over the coming year. With a very large scope of this position, and shares available in the company, a growth-mindset individual would be the perfect fit, to provide them with a technical challenge and vast opportunities to develop with the site.
Role Description
4. Maintain up to date knowledge of HSE legislation and advise management and staff accordingly.
5. Acting in a sole HSE position, reporting into the Site Director, acting in conjunction with the Senior Management team on all HSE Responsibilities and developments.
6. Develop the site HSE management system, implementing policies and procedures, in accordance with current legislation, so that the Site meets established HSE targets.
7. Ensure that the organisation’s HSE strategy is implemented effectively and within agreed budgets
8. Identify both internal and external training opportunities to support initiatives.
9. Ensure that effective record keeping is in place for integrated safe systems of work.
10. Maintain safe systems of work for contractors and visitors.
11. Maintain hazard spotting, internal audit, accident reporting systems and committee meetings
12. Support the risk assessment procedures, identifying, prioritising, and coaching colleagues on their completion and maintenance
13. Ensure that all PPE meets correct requirements dependant on usage.
14. Investigate all accidents and where appropriate, liaise with external and internal stakeholders, including but not limited to HSE/Insurance/Occupational Health etc.
15. Maintain and report all HSE statistics (including key CSR metrics) on a regular basis to Group HSE.
16. Monitor the Site’s impact upon the internal and external environment, including monitoring and implementing initiatives for improvement.
17. Participate in the Global and UK H&S network.
Skills and Qualifications
18. Degree or professional membership within a relevant H&S area.
19. IOSH/ISO/HACCP qualifications.
20. Established health and safety professional within the manufacturing industry.
21. Confident presenter with ability to prepare presentations for delivery to peers
22. Experienced using innovative methods to prepare, execute, and bring everyone on board with rolling HSE improvement strategies for the site.
23. Visual and pragmatic approach to continuous improvement.
24. Experienced with establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
25. A strong awareness of the impact of operations upon the environment with a track record for reduction initiatives.
26. Familiar with the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (desirable).
27. Experience of the food industry and the application of Lean operations/Quality Assurance/Control (desirable).
