The Role:
We’re looking for a commercially driven, people-focused National Account Manager to take ownership of several of our key contracted customers across the UK. This role is about far more than spreadsheets and forecasts. It’s about relationships. About making sure that every account feels fully supported, from the boardroom to the backdoor of every delivery unit.
You’ll act as the key point of contact for your portfolio, ensuring each customer’s head office and operational teams are fully engaged, their needs are anticipated, and their value to the business is maximised. It’s your job to ensure our customers feel valued, connected, heard, and excited about working with United Fresh. When problems arise, you’re already there with solutions. When opportunities emerge, you’re ahead of the curve.
This is a proactive, not reactive role. It demands energy, tenacity, and absolute attention to detail. You’ll need to blend strategic account management with a deep understanding of category growth, commercial performance, and day-to-day service delivery. In short, you’ll be a trusted partner to our customers, a driver of internal performance, and a visible leader within the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Account Ownership: Serve as the lead contact for a portfolio of national contracted customers, building long-term relationships and ensuring consistent delivery of service excellence.
* Proactive Client Management: Regularly engage with both head office and delivery site stakeholders to ensure their needs are being met—and exceeded.
* Issue Resolution: Respond quickly and effectively to any service challenges, ensuring solutions are actioned promptly and communication is clear and professional.
* Commercial Growth: Understand each customer’s potential and develop tailored strategies to grow spend, unlock new categories, and support mutual business growth.
* Internal Collaboration: Work closely with operational, technical, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment and execution of customer requirements.
* Customer Engagement: Lead regular review meetings, QBRs, and strategy sessions to ensure United Fresh remains front-of-mind and continuously improves.
* Reporting & Analysis: Track and report on account performance, service KPIs, and category trends—always looking for new opportunities.
* Market Awareness: Stay ahead of fresh produce and food industry trends, bringing insight and innovation to the table for your customers and the wider team.
About You:
* You are an experienced Account Manager or National Account Manager with a background in foodservice, FMCG, fresh produce, or similar high-tempo industries.
* You’re hands-on, approachable, and commercially sharp.
* You are a natural communicator, credible, confident, and empathetic, with the ability to build strong, lasting relationships at every level.
* You think strategically, act tactically, and you thrive on solving problems before others even know they exist.
* You know how to get the most from internal teams and build momentum behind your customers’ needs.
* You are customer-obsessed, results-driven, and culturally aligned with our commitment to trust, quality, and constant improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing national accounts in a related industry.
* Strong commercial acumen and a track record of delivering account growth.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
* Highly organised, resilient, and capable of managing multiple priorities at once.
* Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites, United Fresh HQ and supplier locations.
* Passionate about food, service, and customer relationships.
