Our philosophy is to put excellent social work practice at the heart of everything we do. Our team of dedicated and professional social workers is key to delivering excellent person-centred care and support to adults and their families and carers within Brighton & Hove.
We believe our staff are our greatest asset, which is why we will support you in your day-to-day practice and encourage you to further develop your professional practice.
We are particularly proud of our unique learning and development pathway and the opportunities we provide for our staff to participate in innovative projects with our local Universities. Social Work in Adult Social Care Locality Teams (over 18’s physical health and older people’s services)
The Health and Adult Social Care Locality teams deliver social work to people in a wide variety of circumstances. We encourage Social Workers in our district teams to grow knowledge and expertise in substance misuse, knowledge of older populations, and social issues faced by people with physical disabilities or facing homelessness. Our locality teams are testing new and innovative models of asset-based practice to inform the development of social work across the whole service.
Our locality teams ensure that vulnerable adults receive the right care in the right place at the right time. We strive to deliver maximum independence and safety with minimum intervention, building on people's strengths and supporting our service users and their carers to achieve the outcomes they want. These posts will support the delivery of our statutory duties under the Care Act and the development of integrated services with our health partners.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
* Be a post-qualified Social Worker with experience in a statutory social work setting.
* Be a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Best Interest Assessor or committed to undertaking this training.
* Be confident in their knowledge and experience of safeguarding vulnerable adults and the assessment of risk.
* Have experience of working in statutory Adult Social Care services.
* Have an understanding of the importance of information and advice in supporting people to maintain their own independence and wellbeing without recourse to long-term publicly funded services.
Our vision is to promote the wellbeing of local people, supporting their independence and helping them stay safe while supporting informal carers.
