Job summary We currently have Healthcare Support Worker positions on our wards at the University Hospital of Wales, including critical care, haematology, medical wards, surgical wards and the major trauma centre. As a Healthcare Support Worker in our areas you will play a crucial part in our nursing teams, we are committed to providing the skills and training that you need to help you in delivering high quality care to our patients. Part time hours are 24 per week, full time 36 or 37.5 Main duties of the job The successful applicants will be involved in direct and indirect care of our patients in line with agreed protocols. Some of the duties may include: - Assisting with daily living activities such as eating, showering and using the toilet. - Taking the patient's observations such as blood pressure and temperature. - Talking to patients and reassuring them. - Assisting registered nurses and other staff when needed. - Ensuring a high standard of infection control procedures, in accordance with our policies. - Maintaining ward stocks, keeping storerooms organised, keeping clinical areas and equipment clean and tidy, and any other duties as delegated by nursing staff. The post holder will communicate on a regular basis with the patient, their relatives and the multidisciplinary team involved in the provision of care in a caring, compassionate and professional manner, always maintaining patient confidentiality and following information governance policies and procedures.
